Requested Song

My brother visited me for a few hours the other day. While he was here, he asked me to record his all-time favourite music, Adventures In Paradise from the TV series by that name. The Atlantics also did a version of it on their Bombora album.

I had about 2 hours to learn the song, create a backing track and put the finished song on a CD for him. That was pretty much a record time for me to do all that. I thought I would share the result and get some comments, if you would.

Guitar is an SG direct into the audio interface

I loved the guitar tone. Perfect reverb for this type of song.

Bass has some low frequency that's booming a little bit.

Didn't get the seagulls. Probably had to do with the original show?

Other than that, no nits.

Ah yes, I stole that idea from The Atlantics' version. Not an exact copy but I thought it was a nice touch in the original and thought I would let a few gulls loose in the mix :)

Modified the bass and reduced the reverb slightly. It has to be there for the style of song but yeah, it can be excessive. Can't get rid of the gulls though, someone must be feeding 'em :)

Well after seeing the name? Guitar legend? I must say I was expecting more. The bird FX and that scrapy thing both detracted from the mix IMO.

Robby, I don't know if you mean to sound like a dick, but you do. Maybe you're having a bad day, maybe you're unaware of how your posts read, or maybe you are a dick.

If you don't want to appear a dick, I would suggest you read your messages and reword them before you post; or use smileys to show your intention. If you don't think you are being a dick, you probably are one and should consider not posting. If you are intending to be a dick, maybe you should stop it.
 
For general info, GuitarLegend was a name given to me by my students and is just a member name, not a self-proclamation.

It took a while to find "that scrapy thing" and the right bird fx to try to emulate the version produced by The Atlantics. The scrapy thing is a washboard to anyone else and it was in the original, so I put it in my rendition. The original bird calls were a typical Atlantics sound effect that I couldnt duplicate precisely so I put Nightingales and Seagulls in mine in the appropriate places.

The person who requested the song appreciated it. :)
