Replace Tascam M-300 series VU lamps with LEDs?

As many of us are finding out, the 8V axial lamps are darned near impossible to find at a sane price. I'm considering replacing them with white LEDs, but I suspect it won't be a simple drop-in replacement. What circuit modifications would one need to make to get this to work?

Thanks,
Jim

If you do go the LED route, I imagine (without knowing the actual equipment) that you would just need a dropping resistor to limit the current to the LED.

Knowing: Vf - the forward drop of the LED; I - the current (in amps) required for the LED; V - the supply voltage, the formula for the resistor is R=(V - Vf) / I

You would use the resistor between V and the LED anode / +

Thanks, Paul. That was covered in the thread I posted above. I should've known someone had been down that road already. :)
