That SMART guy.
I read somewhere that a certain mic sounded better if you removed the plopfilter? Anyone tried this with the AKG3000b?

I might try it next weekend. (Open it, remove the thin foam layer, and compare. Probably I'll need a plopfilter anyway, but I noticed that the SM58 sounded better with the ball screwed off and one of those gooseneck-plopscreens in front of it... So that's what I'll try...)

How bad/good is this idea?

I don't think it would make it sound better, IMHO. If anything siblence would start being a real problem on vocals. Not so much with instruments.

Harvey Gerst when looking over my C3000B the other day, just happened to mention that it might be beneficial to take it out. So it might definitely be worth a try.

Harvey hasn't been posting the last few days. I think he's been consumed with tracking lately. He has my C3000B and is going to give us an opinion on what he thinks of it. I told him to play around with it as much as he wants when he talked about taking the foam screen out. So maybe he'll take it out and try it that way and we can get some input from him on that.
