Mornin all, I need a remote control for my Tascam MSR 16 - The RC416 is very hard to come by. Does anyone know if I can control this deck with the Tascam MM-RC? - This is the 16 channel remote for the Tascam MM8 or MM16 hard disc recorder?? - Same 25 pin plug as the remote plug on the MSR 16. I just need basic functions, FF, RW, stop & start but also I have to be able to arm the tracks for recording. Does ANYONE have any input on this.

Will the MM-RC remote, control the MSR-16 -

Thanks all,
D.

It's doubtful anyone here would have both those decks and the remote to directly answer your question.

You might find the answer by getting a hold of the MM-RC remote manual and check the pin-out diagram info on it and compare that to the MSR-16's service manual info to see if they're the same.

Odds are, they're not.

Cheers! :)

I would highly doubt it is compatible, but stranger things have happened.

I have Googled for an RC and it looks as if it give more functions than simple transport control.

I built an RC for my A-3440 but that is just for transport.

Can I ask yet again? Anyone have the 12 pin rectangular plug for the A3440 remote please? Using nails at the moment!

Dave.

you can use the AQ-65 and connect it to accessory 1 with a cable adapter. That will work for basic function control. For track arming, you could use a device through the serial port (i've been making one for more than a year now, and it works, but it is not productized yet) with all the activity at work it has taken me a very looong time.

You could use a Tascam MIDIizer as a transport control, and I believe for track arming as well.

Just to second the idea of using a Midiizer to remote control the MSR16.

It will do track arming, locate points (up to 20 per song....8 songs can be stored on the machine....then saved via midi dump to a sequencer), auto-locate and auto-return between any 2 locate points. It will do drop-in recording accurate to a 1/100 of a frame. It will also do a whole host of synchronisation stuff too......
