i have some of these for my toms...my floor tom sounds great!! but my rack toms suck balls....so far i get my resonant to have some nice ring, not to loose, but not too tight.....then i put on the muffle ring (cause i want that danney carrey type sound) and tighten the batter head finger tight, but the things is just dead
and if i take the muffels out their WAY to bright and boomy...please, please give me som help!!! my toms are 12 and 13 "

Use Moon Gels

I used to used the Remos.
I got tired of having to keep up with them, wind blowing them off / overdampening, etc.
There are a small package of soft gel pads that stick to the batter head called Moon Gels (about $5.00) that work absolutely fantastic.
You can cut them with scissors to just the right size for cutting ring as needed. (they are normally about 1" x 2")

Just the ticket for you!

i BELIEVE WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT WAS THE MUFFLING RINGS WHICH SIT INSIDE THE HEADS UNDER THE RIMS. tHE RINGS FOR THE OUTSIDE OF THE DRUMS DO NOT KELL THE DRUM TONE, THEY JUST LIGHTLY DAMPEN. tHE UNDER THE HEAD RINGS ARE GREAT WITH CERTAIN TYPE OF HEADS. bUT MOONGELS ARE PROBABLY WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING TO GET.

I've never been a fan of the under the rim Mufflers, as a rule they take out too much resonance (they can work fairly well with bigger drums) and they don't provide much flexibility (they are either on or they're not) and who wants to tear the drum apart just to dampen it.

I am a very big fan of Moon Gel - the best drum invention since the tuning key.
