Musician who mixes
Hey, I remixed the "Passing through" song that I had put up the other day and I think it sounds better. It's not mastered yet, but I would like more input from you guys... I took your previous advice.

I still don't know what to do with the background vocals in the bridge, and the electric guitar solo still might be too meshed in with the rest of the music. I don't know if it's bad or not though.

Here it is,

any and all input is welcome(and encouraged:))

I didn't hear the original version but this sounds quite nice. The EQ sounds crisp and full. The panning might be a little odd (it seems like the toms are the only thing that really spread out of the center, although the piano and lead guitar at the end do have good stereo width). But that's a minor quibble.

The song is very pretty - well done!

I'm sure others will have better advise than I , but this mix defenitely sounds better than before.

Thanks, does anyone have any advice about the background vocal in the bridge? I just can't get something that I really like.

What do you think of how it sounds now?

The hi-hat pattern is not my favorite, just too busy I think. The drums overall are okay though... The mix is good overall - I haven't heard the previous version. Those background vocals work as long as they are in between phrases of the lead singing. If they get too close the whole thing gets kinda mixed up and it's hard to figure out which to listen to..... The reverb on the background vocals is good.

This is a excellent song with an excellent singer ( the backup band is great too). This is current and yet timeless. Kudos to the writers and performers...

Thanks, I'm actually in the band.

It's the JuliaMarie Band, she writes the songs for the most part. But recently we have been trying to write things as a band, but we aren't completely sure where it's going. We're doing a "College Tour" right now, so far ranging from Ottowa to Long Island.

Julia sings and plays guitar.

Camilla(her sister) plays keyboard and sings back up.

I play electric guitar.

Jamie(her brother) plays drums.

Micah plays bass.

The goal was to have a professional sounding recording, but I'm very new to recording and don't feel that we completely achieved it. But we're going to keep on working on the mix, and possibly add a few things. Who knows?

So doesn't anyone else have any input? This has had a lot of views but only 3 comments?

I really dig the whole thing guys!!! Really good...

Only mix comment would be that when the drummer goes from hi-hat to I think its the ride, the overall ride symbol might be brought up a bit along with the kick just a touch also.

I like the echo on the guitar in the begining riff and the combo note riff with the piano and guitar right before the vocals come in. Lead work towards the end is really nice and the bass is nice sounding all the way through. Bass riffs and fills are well played. Tight drumming! Vocals are awesome all the way through!

Overall KILLER JOB!!!
