Between being and nothing
Hey all!!

A friend of mine, Rick Richards, has remixed one of my tunes, which you can find here at the top of this page:

While I have some issues with it (i.e. the stretched out vocal showing off the glaring imperfections in my voice, :lol ), I think it's an overall great mix.

But, well, some feedback is appreciated, so no matter what I think, what do you YOU think?

this is a good mixing job. but I'd like to hear the vocals better.

Okay... responding because you're cute... lol :) Hmmm... wonder why that doesn't work for guys?

Cool music, Helen... the mix seems very clear, and trebly. Low end seems nearly gone. Your vocals are decent, but seem to involve too much proximity effect on the microphone... if you're planning on re-tracking, try backing off the mic a bit...

Vocal track is also getting obscured by the rest of the music... sounds like the guy mixed all your synth tracks first, then added vocals as an afterthought. He should focus on the vox tracks first, and build everything else around it.

it was interesting to listen to as an alternate version, but the original seemed to hit me harder for whatever reason.. you should really try to get a better vocal sound.. maybe a new mic or something.. cool..

You all are too cool!! Thanks!!

Sabbath, I've been using my SE1000 condenser mic on the vocals; it's been banged up a lot over the past year and a half frankly, and now it sounds like the wear and tear is starting to show - I get a real bad buzz on it when I turn the preamp up a bit. Unfortuantely, I can't afford another condenser mic at this time - I'm considering switching over to my SM 57 and see how that works.

Dtb and Participant, I guess I'm a little sensitive...I was thinking I was to far up in the mix. Maybe I just need more reverb?
