Well here's another one for you, dub mixed with house and ambient, don't know the proper genre (and don't care about it). Sorry no free download, but you can stream it at Besonic. Hope you like it!

non-working link

Sorry folks, Besonic seems to have problems to generate artist links in the last two days. This time they've added a backslash behind the .html.... Anyway, here's the correct link (without backslash at end):

Nice job Ulli, really plush sound.
Sounds like a good mix, except for a high end thing on the hi-hat sound I can hear that's a bit distracting.

Cool.. I trying to understand this stuff better. Would you call it trance maybe?

I don't have any clue what this style is called, honestly ;) I don't care about those musical drawers. And rats: Yes, that high frequencies in the hihat. I discovered them too. In the MP3, the original wave sounds better, but I'll do some Qing on it before mastering it for CD.

Thank you guys

Ulli...

Nice job on this recording!

It's definitely a song that would be played in a club in downtown Chicago. Great beat and feel.
It reminded me of my old "club-hopping" days. ;)

What equipment did you use to record the song?

Well, this one saw just my Korg X3, except the sample which is a mullah calling, recorded during holidays on MD. I've played a lot with filter, reverb (on the rim shots) and echos. This is what changed the sound of the X3 so significant :) Ah, I've fogotten: The hacked voice: Also an X3 sound (Air vocals or something like that), with small gaps of silence filled in...

That's all ;)

Nice sounds! Glossy and smooth texture- perfect for the subject of the song, I suppose. And the style.

The only label I have for the style of music is "Techno", which is the same thing as house, I believe, maybe a little broader. I don't think I would call it trance, though I can see why it comes close.

Reminds me of my college days...(can you pass the orange juice?)

Take care,
Chris

Hmm, I guess, it ain't trance. I don't like that and wouldn't do such music :p , Techno? Maybe to soft to be Techno, maybe I should invent a new word. But wait a minute, there's a guy called Gabriel Le Mar who produces similiar stuff (check the excellent "Saafi Brothers" CDs!). Maybe I can find out how he calls his stuff :D

Leftfield has put out a lot of music that sounds similar to this style.

Leftfield

Yep, know that and like it. Ain't there a genre called "Leftfield"? Maybe named after them??? Oh dear, I'm definatley not up-to-date ;)
