You may want to try Avatar for the THD deal they have,.... if you buy one of their cabs, they give you a discount on the THD of your choice,.... and they do have some discounted from their test labs.....go to the deals page,... or closeouts,....you'll see it....

Steve

if i had the cash for a new amp, an avatar cab/thd head seems like an excellent way to go.

Mesa!

I play a Mesa F-100 that you may dig on. They also make the f-50 and f-30 which are 50 and 30 watt versions of the amp. The F-100 is loaded with 6L6s which give it an interesting tone. As for indestructable, mine fell out of our van while leaving a gas station the morning after a show (yes the van was moving). After shitting my pants, putting it back in the van, driving the other 2 hours home, I plugged it back in and it still worked and sounded awesome.
I just picked up a 1972 Sound City Concord, but I'll still probably tour with the Mesa.

I almost went with Avatar, but I didn't have the cash at the time to get a cab with the amp......I alter found out they will sometimes sell just the amp at their fantastic price. They under cut Musicians Friend by a few hundred bux if I recall.

Oh just get me started with those Avatar Speakers guys! They're great folks to work with and their speaker cabs are an excellent value.

Thanks again people, these are all great leads! I mean tips......

The splawn clips were pretty flashy! It does sound nice!

But by far the most recommends (among all the forums I've queried) have been for

Mesa (Mesa leads all others combined, by far)
Matchless
Vox
THD
Rivera
Traynor
Soldano

My homework is cut out for me.....Thanks again! - SC

i dont think i saw anyone mention these guys yet but Savage amps makes amazing sounding amps of any size. check them out.
Savage Audio

I would suggest Dr. Z amps. Kind of simple, but they sound great no matter how you set them.
