Hello:
I have kind of an odd question to ask. I'm planning on making a record with my Pro Tools recording software. However, because of financial reasons, it looks as if I'm going to have begin recording certain songs via Pro Tools on my brand new Mac and then a few months will have to record other songs on an HP laptop that I'll have to purchase later. Both of these computers have been approved by the Pro Tools compatibility website and should work well. My question is: once I finish recording the basic tracks and go into mixing and then later mastering, will the fact that I may have recorded the record on two different types of computers be a huge problem?
Also, and this has almost nothing to do with my other question, but are there Pro Tools(I've only been using Pro Tools for a short while.) plugins for compressing and limiting, and if so how well do they work?
If someone could answer my questions, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Hi there,

When you create your session, just make sure in the new session dialogue box you select "inforce mac-PC compatibility". Don't worry - if ever you forget, you can quite easily select "Save session as..." and do it there. But you will need to do that to make sure it'll run on a PC!

As for the Digirack plugins, there's nothing wrong with them - you might find their reverb a bit limiting, but it's actually very useable when you get used to it..

i'll chime in for the digirack stuff also. the comps and eqs work very well, and like everyone else i'll say that the reverb is a pain at first but you can work if you get to know it a bit.

also if you want some extra plugs for a really good price check out www.masseyplugins.com
