hi guys 1st post here, not sure where to put it.
just have a question to ask about a set up to see if it'll work.
iv been recording with an mbox2 for the last year now and i find it hard to record drums with it, i have to use a mixer then send it to the 2 ch on the mbox, but i dont have control over seperate parts of the kit like snare kick seperatly. i was looking around and i noticed the m-audio 1814 has 8 1/4" inputs, i thought i could use this with the mixer, go from the direct out or group out and into the 1/4" inputs to have 8 seperate tracks and have full control over the kit. im just wondering if this is possible?? and does it make sense??
oh i use pro tools aswell just to make things clear. any helpful input will be apreciated

Yep. You've pretty much got it figured out. You can mic your drum kit. Run each mic to a channel on your mixer, send the direct outs of those channels (or group them) into your 1814 inputs. Assign the inputs into your DAW, hit record, and you should see the seperate tracks being recorded.

Keep in mind, if you're using Pro Tools LE, you won't be able to use the 1814 with that. You'll have to get Pro Tools M-Powered.

Good luck!

ya im gonna get M-powered, i was looking for ages to try find ways of doing this and one option was the presonus firepod but that doesnt work with protools and i love protools.
thx very much for confirming that anyway, im gonna get that set up as soon as possible

im going to be getting a behringer 2442 xenyx, i know its not the best but its in my price range and has the features i need
