Hi I am a Flash developer and sometimes need to record a few short voice clips. I use my computer and a microphone but get always get some static.
Should I buy a better microphone, mine is relatively cheap?
Should the record volume level be higher than the master volume or vice versa?
Should I get a longer cord so I'm farther away from the speakers?
Is there a software program that can help me out?
I don't want to spend a ton of money on this so keep that in mind.
Any help would be appreciated.
thx

Yo Sox de rojo:

One thing you said about being away from the speakers....

Turn OFF speakers while recording your clips. You could be getting feedback to some degree or another.

I'm assuming you use cans when you are doing the voice?

I try to avoid magnetic flux from other gear by shutting off anything that isn't needed when I'm doing voice, which includes speakers and "extra" cans that are not being used. This may help.

A mic pre will give you a stronger signal to your recording input; however, it doesn't have much to do with outside noise problems.

What were you recording into before?
Is that all that changed?

I was recording from a microphone into my mp3 2.0 or the sound recorder on my computer
