Hi i am very new to recording i bought myself a focusrite pro 24 dsp and a couple of mics my monitor has a built in webcam and i have windows movie maker and i use ableton live 8 (maby a bad choice any advice).

What im wanting to do is record some videos for youtube with my friend using the saffire pro and mics instead of the shitty cam mic.

I have tried and failed miserably. How do i record audio and video together im really getting frustrated trying to figure it out.

Any help would be really appreciated ;)

I asked the same question from someone who has posted lots on Youtube. Here's what he says he does

Step 1. Webcam and DAW
Record video with webcam AND Record Audio into your DAW. Mix and create a WAV file

Step2. Windows Movie Maker
Open Video file. Don't use the audio.
Open Audio file created in DAW and use that as the Audio Track for your video.
Note: mix audio with your audio track (it's a slider. Have it on the Audio side)
You may need to tweek the audio starting point to sync with the video.
Save WMM project to WMV ( or a few other choices )
Upload to Youtube

cheers for the reply mate but how do i record into my daw and how do i mix and create wav file really sorry but i dont know what all this means

I'm not familiar with windows movie maker. I use Roxio Creator - lots of bugs, but easy to do what Johnny says - you set the audio volume for the video track to 0, then add in the WAV file and synch it up. Ableton IS your DAW.

If you read the manual of the very nice audio interface you just bought (the focusrite), it will explain in plenty of detail how to go about recording an audio track.
If you still can't figure it out, read the manual for Ableton.
That'll have you covered on recording an audio track into your DAW.
The mixing it with the video thing ain't my forte, but I bet if you get a demo version of one of the programs that the gentlemen above mentioned, you can probably read their manuals and figure it out.
