Recording tips for my group

hey im new to this home recording thing. I just bought real basic equipment including a m-audio fast track preamp, a mxl 3000 vocalist mic, and i am currently using mixcraft 4 to record my music. My music is a mix between hip-hop, to r&b, to pop. Im new to this so i would like it if you have any tips or suggestions for me and my group. umm if your on soundclick just type in teamfly at the end of the soundclick url

I would suggest digging around in the forums here and asking specific questions as they come up. I am pretty new to home recording and have had alot of success from taking the advice from people on these forums. Also, you could check out this website: http://www.tweakheadz.com/guide.htm
It helped me get a basic understanding of the fundamentals.
