my band and i have been setting some stuff up in our basement so we can record some songs, and it occurred to us that we're really not getting much low-end on our recordings. the guitars have a lot of punch, but nothing underneath them to fill out the sound.
i really can't imagine this being anything other than a mic problem - we're using two fairly inexpensive instrument mics ($35 each, used). we're all broke from the new mixing board and soundcard we just bought, so the question isn't which mics to get to replace these, but rather how to deal with what we have. is there any way we can really bring out the low end? will putzing with the eq on the mixer do anything for us?
