Recording Studio

I need a speed help!
I am in charge of preparing a recording studio in one of the classes in our college where teachers can record passages for listening and reading lessons. "HOW & WHAT equipments do I need to prepare that room"
BY the way:
We do not need music...only the teacher's voice.
We do not want expensive or high tech equipments.
We need clear sounds that can be heard clearly inside the classroom.
We need to record on cassettes for classroom use and on CDs for the language lab use.

I have no idea of any recording equipment ... so if you have an advice of certain machine please write tha name and no. of model.

Couple of questions:

Do you have a set budget to work with?

Do you have a computer that they will provide for this?

Do you have any microphones?

Do you have a Tape Deck?

I'm assuming that sound quality isn't a real high priority here. You can probably get away with a SoundBlaster compatible card, a Shure SM-58 mic(or Radio Shack mic depending on the budget), a standard tape deck with RCA or 1/4" phono inputs, and a CD Burner.

The budget is not more than 700$

We have a computer.

We have no microphones or tape deck.
If possible please be more specific in your description of the equipments by mentioming the name and model no. of the product. I am not proffesional i have no idea of any recording machines, models .....

700 is not much money but in a pinch it should get you a decent enough computer and tape deck.

You essentially need a CD-writer on the computer, but you don't need a very high-power machine. I'll go so far as to say that you can get by with decent onboard sound built into mobos.

That out of the way, this is what you'll need:

1 computer with maybe a Celeron or Duron, around 1 GHz should be fine. Should be around $500. Will be the bulk of the budget. Can be substituted with 1 CD-recorder and 1 CD-player but you'll probably run out of budget.

1 tape deck. A decent deck should be about $200 new. It'll be tedious recording to tape over and over, if you can get a duplicator like 4 in 1 it would be good but that'll kill most of your budget.

1 microphone. Yes a Shure should be OK and it's about $60.

Cables to connect all the above. Petty cash expenses.
