Hello, all I need is crisp, clean audio so we can add them to our instructional DVD's and so I can do audiobooks, etc. Here is what I have, am I missing something? Sorry, newb here:

1. Rode NT1
2. M-Audio MobilePre USB Portable Audio Interface
3. Acid Pro
4. Mic Cables ?

Is this going to be good? THX

Looks to me like you're good to go!

Hey Kid, I keep reading about the AUDIO buddy and Phantom Power. Do I also need to get an Audio buddy???

Would it go Mic to Audio Buddy / Audio Buddy to USB Sound Card / ?

No, you've already got what you need.

The MobilePre is a two channel mic preamp with 48v phantom built in... plug your NT1 into a mic cable, then plug the cable into one of the two mic inputs, then plug a USB cable into the MobilePre USB output, then plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computor; switch on the phantom voltage, and you're ready to go, assuming that you've got recording software loaded onto your computor.

For low bucks and ease of use, you could buy a copy of Sound Forge Audio Studio (around $40-$70) or any other recording application that looks good to you. I mention Sound Forge because you can create "acidized" audio files with it, which you can then import into Acid.

Where can I get it?

What are the features?

And get this mic cable instead of the monster: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/search/detail/base_pid/339037/ OR this one http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/search/detail/base_pid/339121/

Thanks a lot!

Really wouldn't need headphones for just audio recording right?

How are you going to monitor what you're recording while you are recording it? For example, you lay down a guitar part and want to play a solo, or sing over it. You listen to the already recorded part while you're laying down the new part, right? Some decent closed-back headphones will allow you to do that without the mic picking up the bleed from the other tracks.

We're ONLY doing audio recording. There will be no other tracks, etc....

I know you are just doing spoken word/voice overs, but headphones could really come in handy for the VO people to hear themselves better. It helps them to sort of know what the mic is picking up, and how it sort of sounds. So they can then add or subtract inflections and what not to some words that might need it.

I am also recording audio for voice overs and audiobooks too. Yes you do want a set of headphones. First so you can listen to what you are really recording while you are recording it. Also you are going to want to have some way of listening in great detail while you are editing the sound. And you will be doing a lot of editing of takes.

oh, and yes you will need mic cables :)

and a quiet room

Isolation from outside sound is important for that "crisp clean audio"
