Recording "Song 2"

I'm going to attempt recording "Song 2" by Blur, and I wanna know if they used any special techniques to create the epic sounds.

Try searching through Sound on Sounds classic tracks. Although I think it names
them by album, so if you see anything with "Blur", give it a look through.

That's about as vague a question as anyone could ask. What exactly do you find to be epic about this song?
