Hey all, I'm new to home recording and I'm trying to start up a studio on my computer. From what I can tell, Reason is the best for MIDI recording, but I also need a program to record my guitar, bass, and vocals with. Can anyone suggest a program that I can easily import the backing tracks I make in Reason into, that has great sound quality and is optimized for the instruments I described above? I also would like it to be pretty easy to use. Thanks a lot for your help.

I'd have to recommend N-Track for you. My setup is Reason and N-Track and I do exactly the things you described above. N-Track includes the "ReWire" feature for easily importing your midi tracks, and then you throw whatever you want on top. Oh...it's also insanely cheap, and very easy to use. Check it out at www.fasoft.com.

N-Track is good, if you are looking for a free program you might want to try Audacity, not the greatest but good for learning the basics of pc recording and it's pretty simple to use. Some recording software is pretty complicated and can easily confuse and frustrate someone new to digital recording. If you have a midi input on your soundcard, Audacity will get you off to a good start without costing you. There are a number of other trial and demo softwares available so you can try before you buy, try several and see which works best for you.
