I have a Boss GT-6, w/midi connected to my audigy 2 gamer soundcard (i know it sucks, but it's all I got for now) via usb midi cable. I am using guitar tracks pro 3 as my software. What settings do I need so that I can get sound out through my speakers. All the win xp settings are on, so I know I can get sound . Just not when I am wanting to record. I know I have to be recording. I have tried everything. Does anyone have any advice or know of a website that will show me the correct settings. I have been to soundcard website, boss's website, and they both show nothing.

AMD 3500+
1gig of ram
multiple hard drives
audigy 2 card
win xp

USB and MIDI are not the same thing.

There should be a little tiny input jack on the back of the Soundblaster that says "Line In". There should also be a much larger 1/4" jack on your guitar pedal that says "Line Out". You might need an adapter or a special cable that allows you to connect these two things. Probably a 1/4" TS plug to 1/8" (or 3.5mm) TS plug cable, or an adapter for the soundcard and a regular guitar cable.

I've never used your software, but generally you have to select a recording device, arm a track for recording that's set to use the same device, monitor the input signal, set your levels and push record.

You might have to do a lot of reading to learn the basics of recording. Read all of your manuals very carefully.

http://tweakheadz.com/ has a bunch of learning information on it that might help you.

MIDI doesn't contain any audio. It's a communications protocol for digital instruments (Musical Instrument Digital Interface).

Read Snow Lizard's response again. Everything you need is there.

Is this it?

The thing about this cable is that it won't carry any audio. If you have a program that lets you send and recieve MIDI data through a USB connection, you need to understand the MIDI protocol and what it does. It can send and recieve a pre-programmed set of instructions for what sounds or effects to select, and when to play them. That's it.

I'm assuming you want to record guitar. That cable won't do it.
