Recording Problem

When I click on my Sound Forge record button, it says:"Either no recording exists or the current device is set to (None).
What should I do? I can't do any recording.
 
You need to set the input devices (ie your soundcard) in the preferences setup.

I', sorry,I don't get what you mean. Could you please elaborate?
 
Options > Preferences > Wave tab
Set your soundcard to be used for Playback and Record.

Reading the manual should also provide answers.

Thanks a million , I got it. Another thing is in the Record Menu, the "method", "device" and "mode" settings,how should I set those? Like for example in"method", there are choices like Normal, Automatic:Time ,etc and "device" has None, Microsoft Sound Mapper, C-Media Wave device, etc and "mode" has Multiple Takes(No Regions), Multiple Takes Regions, etc. Since I just want to do audio recording, and latter burn into my CD or DVD, how should I go about it? What about the microphone setting? Should I set it at Alternate Microphone or Microphone Boost? Because I have weak playback?
