Well, I have 2 Singers (3 Vocal Trax)

2 Guitarsist using Boss GT-3's running direct.

I ran my bass thru a DOD Bass FX.

It was our first attempt..we are now micing the drums individually, and running the mix thru Vegas/Soundforge to clean it up..I put an updated version of it up on www.hedsteem.com

It addresses the volume issue, We are working on our next tune "Blues, My way" it sounds alot better in my opinion, the Worm is a song we have had for about 9 Years so it was an easy way to test things out, Ill let all of you know when Blues is Completed.

Thanks for the support and input.

Downloading the new version. So you dudes have been together for awhile, huh?

Been working on my two toons, too. Freakin cymbals are too loud on The LORD Is. A Whirlwind is about to be sent off to be mastered by a freind in Alabama. I have three new toons in the making on the Fostex now.

Man, that's a BIG IMPROVEMENT. I A/B'd em. Everything is kickin much better. The Guitars stand just a bit more separation, IMHO.
Good job!

Axe4Yahweh, how do you prepare your recordings for mastering? Do you just send in your best mix? Do you know anything about the term "uncompressed" when it comes to mastering. I was told by someone that you send in an "uncompressed" copy of your music when sending away for mastering. I understand the concept of mastering but I would like to know more about how to prepare your music for such a service.

Michael told me to send it with no Output Compression on (yes that's Uncompressed) and to have it peaking no more than -3db on output to give plenty of Headroom to work with. Whatever compression that one has used on Vox and Instruments is fine. That's it. So, all that I have to do with A Whirlwind is turn the Output Compression off and make sure of the Peaking on the Output and It's ready to go.

I understand why i should leave headroom, but how do I know if my outgoing signal is compressed or not?

Bout 10 Years we have been playing on and off but the last 3 we are on it.

The Output will not be compressed unless you add compression to the Output.
