any of you have had problem with rither ACID or Vegas when you record? I "sometimes" get a real low signal with lots of hissing noise. This just happens sometimes, but it really annoys me. I have checked everything, and everything sounds perfect when I test recording in SF, so, it's gotta be the problem with ACID and Vegas. Any thoughts???

I found that Acid is troublesome when it comes to recording. I use 2.0 pro and has a crappy computer so when I record in Acid it "jumpes" and the tracks sometimes come out of sync. But I never had any special noise probs.
You dont have the "stretch from tempo" box checked or something?

Way out theory... do you have a mic plugged into your sound card... The program might also be recording that sound....

Just a thought.....

Give us an idea of what your using:

Sound Card
Mic
Computer (brand?)
Operating system
Mobo(?)
Processor
Ram
Software Version

And let us know if you've upgraded your drivers lately.

ok, first, my setup:

C1->Behringer mixer's pre->RNC->Audiophile->PC

PC: Dell Demension
Pentium III, 600mhz
Intel mobo(not sure exactually which one)
350ram
Win98se

Software: ACID 3.0 (but I had the same problem with ACID 2.0 sometimes)
Soundforge 5.0 (it always records perfectly even when ACID is messed up)

Some of you might immediately start to blame on Behringer's pres, but, like I said, everything records perfectly when using SF.

I hope I have provided enough info. Thanks for the replies.

Any chance you upgraded drivers for the audiophile lately?

I had a random noise problem after updating my delta drivers (which I believe are the same) under Win98se and had to go back to my original driver set to fix the problem.

It was completely random - meaning it never did it when I expected it or looked for it but every 3rd or 4th time I'd hit record, the noise would be there. It happened in Vegas and Acid.

I seriously doubt its Acid. I have Acid installed under 3 different OS's (Win98se, Win2k and XP) without a hitch. The latest version is version "F," for Acid and Sound Forge btw.

Its like a staticky noise? Throughout the entire track right?

Try this: Go to control panel, look up your sound card properties, make a note of the listed driver, then go to midiman's web site and DL the newest driver (and the oldest you can find) BE SURE TO GRAB AND USE THEIR UNINSTALL UTILITY, otherwise the drivers won't install correctly.

Try the new drivers and see if that fixes it. If not, try the oldest drivers - for me, on the windows98se machine, NO WDM would work.

If that doesn't work, set fire to your mixer....

Zombie,

Thanks for your info. I just went ahead and updated to the newest driver, and tested recording. Everything worked out perfectly.
Now, like I said, my ACID is got this attitude, god knows if it's gonna mess my next take up....
I think I had this problem even before I had Audiophile. Oh, well, at least it's working at this moment. I will let you know the result in a few days.
thank you

I use acid extensively and have been since it came out. I've had a few weird things happen over the years but nothing like what you described.

I'm pretty sure its the sound card drivers.

Might be a good idea to run the repair utility (uninstall) or get the most current version of Acid which is now "F".

In any case, glad its working! Keep us posted.
