Hi,
I have my first song on mp3.com. It is a rock instrumental titled "Rock Solid". Being very new to recording I hope to learn some basics here. If you guys could give a few pointers I would appreciate it. You can hear my song at http://www.mp3.com/DaveBaughan
Thanks,
Dave

David,
Listened to your tune on my P.C.,sounded real good.

Great guitar playing and melody.

The only problems I could hear were some timing issues in the third change you made, and what sounded like mabey pumping, too much compression? Some of these other guys would know better than me.

How did you record it,what kind of equipment?

Great for first attempt, keep it up,
Pete

Hi,

Sounds great!... excellent playing.. Only comment was the mp3 was encoded @ 128k, but was not very clean sounding. I found the mix to be muddy, with low end rumble. What did you record this on? The instrument mix is good.. maybe could use a little EQ treatment.. keeps us posted!

Hi,
I used an Akai Dps 12i to record on. I think it is a great recorder, but it is limited by my inexperience. My other instruments are: Fender Strat, Yamaha rx 11 rythm machine, Line 6 Pod, Dixon bass. I think my equipment is good enough. I am dissapointed in the sound I am getting. It sounded fine to me until I converted it into an mp3. Seems like if your recording isn't great you can really tell it on lofi play.
I really was guessing when I mixed this song. Can any of you guys recommend a book on how to use eq. How do you know when to use eq or when to leave it alone?
About that timing issue. That is not compression. I need to
redo that part. Thanks for listening.
Dave
