HI,
one of the most important things will be the mic, and the interface you are using, rather than the software. Im not farmiliour with the one you mentioned, but whatever software you use, you will need a good mic.

the soundcard in your laptop probably wont be good enough to get a GOOD clear recording.

You could use something like a usb condenser mic. http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/...1d04e78ea8606c7746db97&filter_manufacturer_id[]=&order_by=price-a&price_filter=

i have never used these, but im sure for what you require, one would make a massive difference. you would be looking at around 100 USD for one .

The best piece of advice is to bear in mind that one of the whole idea behind karaoke is that it doesn't matter how good(or bad) your singing is ,you are singing for your own enjoyment.

Choose a song that you are very familiar with and that suits your style of singing.

You could rip the audio track off the CD, or if it's already MP3 ... import into your Recording software ... free such as AUDACITY
Then, add another track (you vocals) and record it. No Effects. You can add those in after, and mix the levels, too. Instead of having to record it over and over until you get the right levels.
Also, you can record more takes, MUTE previous, and chose the best one for the Final version.
