Hi......I am new.....tried looking around to find my problem in the forum but its so big, i didnt know where to start.

my problem....i have done it before with my old pc... ...but now with new pc i cant remember how i did it.

windows volume control pannel....properties.....theres playback and recording........now i remember in recording i used to be able to select 1 or all of the items shown like cd...microphone...aux....wave....line...etc.

now with new pc i can only select 1.

might add that new pc has a soundMax digital audio sound card.......my old pc had a separate sound card, a sound blaster PCI CT4810.

i used to be able to record multiple sound at the same time from my pc...eg cool edit pro would record what my mic picked up and say fruityloops was playing a vst instrument and it would record that as well...hard to explain....i will leave it at that...and then give up i guesss....

sorry for posting this if its in the wrong place

rock on

The first thing you should do is go to to the soundcard manufacturer's website and ensure you have the latest and greatest driver installed.

But really, it could just be that your new soundcard doesn't provide the functionality of your other one.

Using a built-in soundcard?? Unfortunately, those are made with less than $1 worth of chips for beeps, boops and light gaming (not to mention cheapness for the manufacturer) and NOT quality music production. They will often not let you sequence from multiple sources/streams, too.

#1 Rule of Recording: You MUST replace the built-in POS soundcard.

Here's a good guide and tested suggestions: http://www.tweakheadz.com/soundcards_for_the_home_studio.htm

thanks for replying....i will check that site out tweakheads.....i am a serious fl studio 8 user..........thank god for asio is all i can say......will explore this home recording forum. I think this forum will be very good for me.

and i think you maybe right about on board sound cards..... .......i still have the old creative labs card, so i ripped it out from my old smashed compuer and put it in my new one......but.....the drivers on the install cd aren't for xp home.........so no driver means, no sound when using creative card....grrrrrrrrr

oh well
