Hey guys..... I usually work on a song in the triton then when i am finished with the midi part of it I save it on a floppy and then open it up in sonar where i add audio track and edit (if necessary)the midi content. but how do I re-record some midi parts once i have audio tracks on in the bundle? I have looked in the manual and the help section but can't still seem to get it.....I know that can go back to the triton and re-record it then save again on a floppy, open it in sonar again copy the track and then insert it in the bundle but there has to be a simpler way....could you please give me some points?
thanks
brando

p.s.

feel free to tell me how much of a mammaluc I am it's ok.
peace

You can edit the exiting MIDI tracks the same as always regardless of whether you have audio tracks present or not. Of course the caveat is that if you want to change the tempo of some of the piece, the audio part usually cannot be adequately changed unless the tempo variation is small, unless it's a percussive part.

But I presume that you have never edited the MIDI data in SONAR before. Well, get thee to the manual, or the online help. Therein lies all the stuff you need to learn about how to edit the MIDI data -- copying. cutting and pasting sections, tranposing sections, tweaking individual note parameters, etc., etc.

Supposing you haven't deleted your MIDI tracks after putting it in audio, you can go to piano roll view to do what AlChuck said. Edirol is a good call too.

thanks guys..... but I have edited midi tracks, copy, cut and paste and so on but I want to re-record them in real time and only one part of one track and no I haven't turned them into audio tracks however I have recorded audio tracks I.E. guitars, vocals; I use the midi tracks as they are and then turn them into audio only at the end of the project.

I can't seem to get used to that pencil tool.....
thanks

brando0 my friend, do you connect your triton to your PC (SONAR) via MIDI ? If so, then just insert new MIDI track, and do record following previously recorder tracks. If you don't, then I'm afraid there won't be any short cut but to bring the data back to Triton via disk, re-record the part you mentioned, save to disk, re-transfer to SONAR, and so on... :)

James,
thanx......i do have the triton and sonar connected through midi...my problem is that i can't seem to be able to record the midi tracks in real time in sonar....i can only step write(draw).
I can record in real time in the triton and then save it on the floppy open it in sonar copy the midi track i want and then open the cwb and paste it ...

unless sonar doesn't have the capability to record midi in real time using the triton or any other keyboard sound module.

thanks

Of course it does. Read the manual. It's basic stuff.

Brandoo, First you need to get the Triton ins files and import it in sonar (Options -> Instruments -> Define -> Import) . Connect your Triton midi out to computer midi in. Then in Sonar go to Option -> Midi Devices and see if he inputs and outputs are highlighted. Then goto Options -> Instruments and see if your 16 midi channels are mapped to Triton. If you can see all these right. Then you have to be able to record now. If you think teh problem is in triton, you may try www.tritonhaven.com for advice.

thanx guys i'll try that! and i'll keep you posted.

Sounds to me like the Triton isn't sending midi data.

I mean you do you have midi tracks in your project correct? and you do have the little R button on that track activated? After that, it is just like recording audio.
The only thing I would suggest, is to pull your mouse all the way down to the bottom of your screen, and get your windows taskbar to pop up. next to your clock, you should see a little synth thingy, with two red lights. When you hit a key on your Triton, the light on the left should light. When you play the tracks back to the Triton, the light on the right should light up.

One more question. How many midi cables do you have between the Triton and the PC?????

thunder,

that's exactly what i think the problem is.
i have one midi cable....that's probably why huh? the info isn't getting back in or vice versa.
what do you mean when you ask if i have the midi tracks in my project correct? they play fine.....

Bingo! You need two cables. :)

thanks Moskus!
so all i have to do is connect the other midi cable from the triton to the ezbuz...right? and it should work.
i'll keep you posted.
thanks

That should work (if you have enabled the MIDI Out port under Options -> MIDI Devices). :)
