I'd use an omni on stage, even for a vocal if the singer stayed right on it. One nice thing, no proximity effect. People often say not to use condensers on stage, but I do it. You just have to take care how you're using them. On a loud amp? No problem. On a quiet singer in front of a loud band using monitors? Maybe not, especially if they can't stay on the mic.
