Need help!!.. I have just started recording live concerts. I was using a hand held cassette recorder, but the results are not good. They never sound really clear. Does anybody have any idea what is the best and easiest product to use. (I want something that is small and can easily be carried.)Once recorded, I can fix it up on my computer and transfer it to cd. Any suggestions, including good brands or models would be appreciated. Thanks

One way of recording live concert's is to use two microphones as a stereo pair. This will help you get a good stereo image of the actual sound. You can really use any two microphones, but you will definatly benefit by getting a matched pair of small diaphram condensor's. There are many out there so check them out at any music store or online retailer to find some in your budget.

Also, you will need something to record this stereo image on. Depending on what your budget is, you might need two preamps. There are portable DAT machines that would work, but I think they are expensive.

If you give us an idea of your budget we can probably help you put something together.

I'd like to keep this under $1000. Need something small to carry in my pocket. Am I better off with DAT? Mini Disc? What??? The cassettes just seem to pick up too much noise that I don't want. I'm already set for editing, copying and converting, I'm strictly interested in the recording part. What do you think....
