Roel
That SMART guy.
I will be recording a demo next weekend, with my VS1880. The recordings will be made in one room, with stereo guitars, bass and drums... So I have 5 tracks left for the complete kit.
I want the snare and kick on seperate channels. Which leaves 3... What do I do next?
I will be making a submix for the toms. (2 toms and floortom) Make it a stereo mix? And a mono overhead? Or make a mono mix and a stereo overhead? Or mono overhead and HH seperate?
I will borrow a mic kit for the drums (from a PA I'm used to work with), I'll have plenty of SM57 & SM58, one small diaphragm (don't know the exact type, we mostly use it for HH when mixing life), and my own AKG C3000 (which would be nice for a mono overhead.)
All tips are welcome. I never tracked a kit. I might be able to get some compressors too. Could be usefull when tracking a kit on a digital workstation. Right?
