Hi,
I am new to using Cubase and, I did a quick trial run as soon as I set up my equipment and software and, I'm already having trouble. I use a Lexicon interface with a laptop running Windows 8 and Cubase LE 5 (that came with the Lexicon interface). For some reason, when I lay down my tracks, it's only recording on the left channel. I have stereo selected in Cubase and, as far as I can tell, there isn't anything on the interface that pans left or right.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Thanks

When you say "tracks" what are you recording? Microphones by any chance?

If so they're a mono source and it would be better to record them to a mono track--all you're doing with stereo is doubling the disk space you use for no advantage.

I'm not a Cubase user but, if it's like most DAWs, I imagine there's a function whereby you can copy the left channel to a new mono track then discard the stereo version.

Use mono tracks unless the source is stereo.

I'm going to be doing vocals and various instruments including guitar and bass but, for my experiment last night I was using a bass guitar running into my interface using a standard instrument cable. I tried recording in mono. When I listen back to it, the sound only comes out of one side of my headphones. Is this standard these days? Do I need to copy every track I lay down and paste to the right side or is there a way to make it to where I can record, say a simple bass track and be able to have it play back out of both channels?

Thanks

Then you didn't record to a mono track or you have another issue.

I gotta go now, but will give detailed instructions in morning if someone doesn't help you by then. :)

Hi Villain fan

If you look at the LE4 set-up tutorial at the top,( LE5 is the same give or take,) after you add the stereo inputs you can add mono
that's what you need to do,then when you plug your bass in it will be mono! :thumbs up:

**(and don't forget to select the mono input in the inspector!)**

When you add an audio track, you have to select Stereo or Mono. It probably defaults to Stereo so be sure to change it to mono.
