recording in cubase

I have several vst synthesizers along with the instruments that came with cubase sx, but I'm not able to record any of the instruments. I have my midi setup, and I can hear myself playing, but how do I actually record. I've imported audio tracks that I made, but I want to add certain sounds to them in cubase using the vst instruments. Can anybody help me?

Set your midi in as your midi device, and your midi out as the vsti that you want to hear play the midi track, arm the track and then press record.

If your trying to do things to it that can only be done to an audio file, you will need to convert it into actual audio.
