recording help with TONEPORT UX1 please!

hi i'm a guitar/ bass player that just purchased a tone port ux1 and i've had much fun playing with its variety of sound effects and stuff

i want to record (guitar and bass stuff) now but i really don't know how. the thing SAYS it can record but can it really? cuz i really don't know how... i'm so stuck and confused and pissed i'm even planning to get refund ..PLEASE HELP the poor noob

Well, the Toneport is a recording "interface," which means that it doesn't actually do the recording, but it allows you to record onto a computer. I believe the toneport comes with some sort of recording software (abletone live), which you will need to install if you haven't already. Alternately, you could use just about any other recording software, if you have it. Regardless, you will need to familiarize yourself with the recording software, so you understand how to route the inputs from the guitarport to the proper channels within the software so that you can record.

I don't own the toneport, so I can't really tell you all the steps, but there should be a manual/getting started guide that came with your toneport that can take you through the process.

does that mean i need toneport ux1 and a spereate piece of device or a software to start recording? and about the ableton live thing, i've installed it and nothing happened. what is it meant to do?

Yes.. you SHOULD already be able to record any kind of guitar.. whether its acoustic, electric, or bass!
