ok...... ive been trying to record guitar demos into my computer through cakewalk by pluging my guitar straight into the line in jack on my computer but it come out so faint you can barely hear it. so then i tryed to boost the volume by using a PA mixer(its a crappy rouge one) pluging the guitar in to the PA input and using the rec output to go to the line input but this didnt help much, barely at all. I then tryed using the PA speaker output to go to thew computer but all i got was some very loud crackling. im not sure what i can do to record and its getting pretty frusturating so im turning to you guys....... if i used this would it work

Plugging your speaker output to your scard input is a great way of blowing things up :).
Is the input in the scards mixer application at full level, are the wires you are using ok?

yeah the cables are good and the line in volume on the windows mixer thing is at full with mute off.... hmmmmm

thanks a lot guys...... if my sound card is fried (its a tbs montego II that came with my dell) any suggestions on a new one?? and if i do decide to get a mixer (im looking at a behringer mx1604a) would this work by itself to boost volume?? idk which i should
get, a pre-amp or a mixer
thanks again

Wait a minute... Didn't I already reply to this exact question in another thread in Recording Techniques? ;)

Hey Hey... just trying to get it seen

Man I know how you feel... but there is no faster way to end up on a message board's SHIT LIST than blasting the same question across more than one board. It's just wrong man.... wrong.
