I think I'll say its free till they use the tracks for anything. If its just to show the management that they are writing more stuff, thats fine. But if they intend to release/broadcast any of it, they can pay me.

... I suppose the next question is: How much!?!

Their previous stuff was produced at Olympic Studio in London at great expense to their management, still playing on Radio 1 every so offen, recouping costs.

The Americain chap in the policemans hat has been a little patronising, but all comments are welcome!

Ummmm... you would do well to listen to David.

And, though this is petty, it's "copyright", not "copywrite". It's about rights, not writing.

I'm not being patronizing at all. I've been making records for a quarter-century, I'm just telling ya how it works. If ya wanna make up the rules as ya go, there's really no need to post in a forum and ask for advice. Good luck.

DavidK - I do own it, its on MY computer. They made sounds, I made recordings which are mine. If they sneaked in and took those recordings that would be theft.

I have not spoken about charges with them. It was "you wanna do some recording with us, we got no cash"... I said "yeah sure, we'll see what happens".

Submitted for the judges review:

In one corner: I'm doing this for this first time and I don't know how it works--any suggestions?

In the other corner: I've been doing this professionally for a long time--w/numerous actual releases. Here's how it works.

And the judges deliberate...

Ding Ding Ding!!!

DavidK in a unanimous decision!

Now that was patronizing:D--and downright smart-assed. But c'mon, he knows what he's talking about and he's trying to help. To so readily dismiss his advice suggests that you asked the question having already decided upon it's answer. You didn't want real advice--just confirmation.

So good luck. I hope it works out well for you.

just thinking about the potential of the music - and making sure I wasn't going to create something for nothing that would make big bucks for someone else.

With regard to use of english, rather than audio terminology; you need to work on your tone.

Cheers everyone!
