Marik... Yeah, I know what you mean about cheap Chinese made crap...

DJL,

Please don't ever twist my words. It is obvious that I meant exactly what I wrote--Beh'ger crap, and it has nothing to do with China, or 797. If you have problems with cheap Chinese made crap, it's your problem, but don't put it in my mouth. And please, let's not get back to it again.

it's hard for me to believe you didn't take pictures... oh well.

Do you imply that I am lying?

Ok, let's leave that one there!

TimboZ - I don't think you mentioned your preamps and any other gear you were using. That's worth mentioning because if your recordings are great with your Avalons it may skew his decision making!!!!

I sent you 2 clips of Brahms Academic Festival Overture Opus 80.
The first one I used 2 EMC 8000
The second one I used 2 AKG C3000 and 2 AKG C3000b.
Let me know what you think.

Timbo

First, it's interesting that you chose that particular piece, lol... I just performed that a few months ago with the university orchestra.

Thanks for sending the recordings. I liked the EMC 8000's better.

I've heard a lot about The Rode NT5s. Can you tell me how these compare?

The Behringer B5 cost a little more than the Behringer EMC8000 but IMO it's a better mic... like the Studio Projects C4, the Behringer B5 has interchangeable capsules and a Pad/Filter switch, plus both the C4 and B5 are made by 797 Audio... and the Behringer B5 cost less than the C4.

The Rode NT5's are nice mics... it's in about the same class as the Oktava MC-012... but the NT5 doesn't have interchangeable capsules.

The EMC 8000 mics were recorder with a Fostex VF160 and the AKG C3000 mics were into a Mackie VLZ pro mixer then into the Fostex VF160.

If someone can host the 2 files so others may compare them let me know.
