Recording Fuzz...please help!

Hello,

For over a year I have been recording through an ART Tube MP "Project Series" interface with no issues. One day I went to record and got nothing but fuzz. My initial solutions were to try various cables, USB slots, and recording software (Reaper, Audacity). When none of that worked, I thought the solution was to simply replace the tube (12AX7) in the preamp, but even that was a bust . At this point I'm at a loss. I was hoping to hear some thoughts/suggestions on things to try at this point...or at least hear from someone that knows more than me that I'm doomed.

It has a USB out? (What I saw didn't) If not, try something else into your interface as a test?
 
What are you using to get he signal from the Art into your DAW?

Sounds like ring modulation to me.
 
The unit has a USB out that I use to connect to my computer to record. Once connected, I primarily work in REAPER and occasionally AUDACITY. I am not familiar with ring modulation. Curious to hear what this is.

Instead of going into my computer, I did try going through the TUBE MP into my bass amp and everything sounded fine...no distortion at all. Makes me think it's the USB chord, but I've tried several...oh and I updated to the latest version of REAPER to no avail.
 
Sometimes this happens with the drivers. Even on a mac. I don't know which you are using but I'm using a mac and this has happened to me before. For example, you are using an updated DAW and the interface still has the old drivers that aren't compatible with it and you get this fuzz. Had it happen. New driver fixed it. Go to the website of the company that makes this USB interface, go to drivers, look for the latest driver, download it. If that does not fix it, I've seen a few things happen in my life, USB on the unit can be tore up and it not be the cord but the actual port. USB on the computer can not be performing as it's supposed to.

This can happen if you are trying to force something to run at a higher bit rate than it can run too. I don't know this interface you have. But if it isn't 24 bits, and you have reaper on 24 bits, it might accept it, yet have this fuzz.
