I no nothing about techinical terms so whoever answers this, be nice ;-) I want to record information from my tapes to my computer so I can burn the info to a cd - once I learn how to do that!! Thing is, I tried using the sound recorder, but it only records for sixty seconds. Can anyone help?

Try downloading a free demo, this will allow more time for your recordings.

Cakewalk, Sonar, Cool Edit Pro, PT LE, Soundforge....I think they all have free demos
Try to find one that does not induce clicks every 15 seconds

Use soundforge. I have and it works wonderfully. Get an RCA>1/4 connector and jack it into your stereo outs and your computer's aux input. Works like a charm.

Give n-tracks a try. I started out with it. It'll work great for what you want to do. Go to the n-tracks forum for all the info you'll need and the site address. Make sure also you use the line in jack on your sound card, not the mic in. The mic in is intended for those cheap mic/headsets you talk over internet with.
