Recording freeze

I'm trying to get n-tracks working with an Omni Studio connected to an AMD 350 running XP, for the meantime. I can get an audio signal to register on the recording vu meters, but EVERYTIME I CLICK ON THE RED RECORD BUTTON I GET THE PERPETUAL HOURGLASS...

Any ideas?
