So my friend and I have just been recording some basic songs through my macbook pro. Right now were just using garage band to put the tracks together and recording through my digitech rp250 foot pedal for guitar, the standard mac mic for vocals, and a midi to usb wire for keyboards. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for reasonably cheap microphones to get us started and anything else we might need to get with microphones to add to the vocal quality. Also I was wondering if there was a better way to record guitar than using my foot pedal as it comes out with a lot of white noise in the background.
Thanks,
Matt

At last count, there were at least 2459 threads answering this exact question in the Noobs forum... suggest you have a dig around and see what you can find out.

You'll probably get a better guitar sound if you actually use the other half of the sound producing equation as far as electric guitars go - an amplifier... miked... if you're getting white noise then, could perhaps it be that you are using distortion patches and have the distortion up too hight... less is more.

Big question is "what's your budget?"... followed by "what approximate style of music?"

A reasonably cheap microphone means.... $???? to you?

You definitely need:
1) Audio interface
2) Microphone
Answering he questions above will help
