Recording electric drums...Help

:confused: I have a Roland elec drum kit..got the stereo jacks running through my interface and it sounds like shit....pretty distorted..messed with the levels and its not really changing... even on the low levels its distorted can someone tell me what I should do? Thanks.

Are you going into the interface via preamps or line-level..?..What level are you using coming out of the Rolands..? You may have to turn the Rolands down and get your gain on the interface.. If all else fails, you can try running the output of the Rolands into a pair of ( stereo) DI boxes..This will drop the level back to mic level. Now use the gain on the interface ( mic pre) to see if helps the distortion..Good luck..

I`m using regular 1/4" jacks are those line level? What do you mean a pair of D.I. boxes...I haven`t bought a D.I. box yet but was planning on it....For my Bass do I need more than 1 Or get 1 stereo box?

Hello..More than likely, they are line-level..Are the inputs on your interface a combo connector..? ( XLR/TS )..The reason I said (2) DIs is because you'll need two inputs if you are gonna run your keyboard stereo. If not, (1) will do..No, you just need (1) for your Bass.. You can get a stereo DI and use it for the Bass and stereo keyboards.. ( not at the same time of course)..
 
I doubt a dI is needed just turn down the level of the drums going into the interface, and set the gain accordingly until you get a nice clean level, simple as cheese:)
 
A) What is your interface?

B) Why don't you just record the midi into the computer and replace the drum sounds in your sequencer??? Lots more powerful....
