Yo Ericlingus! You can use balanced or unbalanced connections. The balanced connection is about 6db hotter, so what the hell? And- the VAMP II, although a perfectly good cheap box, cannot do anything that is "true stereo". Stereo recording is a way to use 2 (or sometimes 3) mics to create an acoustic model of what your ears would have heard if you had been in the room when the sound was recorded. Stereo recording is *not* an electronic decision, nor can stereo recording be accomplished by *any* processing of a mono signal. Your guitar, even if it puts out 2 separate signals, as with a blender system or a Parker with a separate piezo, does not, and never will, produce any signal to which the term "stereo" can be properly applied. In short, if it doesn't involve 2 mics recorded on separate channels, whatever it is, it isn't stereo.-Richie
