recording classical guitars

I have a Martin 00016C Classical guitar that I use to play folksy/bluesyish stuff (either with a pick or handstyle with my fingernails). Unfortunately, I don't have Willie Nelson's crew or recording engineers and I'm in the process of setting up at home. I'll limit this particular cry for help to mics. (I do have a Fishman-made transducer built in that works well for live performance but I understand that for recording I'm better off with a mic(s).)

I'm ready to spend $200-300 for the guitar mic. I've read some of the threads discussing micing acoustic guitars - do you have any special advice for the nylon stinged ones?

I also use a nylon-string classical to play Brasilian jazz. What I have been able to deduce so far from mic discussions is that a small diaphragm condenser mic may work well for these guitars. I currently use two Shure SM57 dynamics because thats all I could afford initially, but I'm seriously looking at the Shure SM81. I too would appreciate advice on the matter.

The cover article of the new issue of Electronic Musician is about building up a mic locker at various levels of cost from bare bones to the sky's the limit and they discuss the various merits of a whole bunch of different mics for different instruments.A good read.Also check the Microphones thread here,there's an Octavia small dia condenser that seems to be garnering praise for it's price/performance ratio.Cheers!
