Recording choir vocals

I will be recording a church choir with about 25-30 singers. I plan to use 3 large dia. cond. mics. Question is this: Is the traditional way to place the mics up above the choir and angle the mics down. The choir will be about 3 deep. My booms will go to almost 8 ft.

So how did it turn out? And what did you learn from doing the recording?

It turned out real good and my customer was very happy. I am still not sure I recorded those singers properly though. I had a solo vocalist on most songs that sang into my C-1, and I placed 3 large condensors overhead and pointed down at the choir. I think I would have gotten a little more "in your face" sound from the choir if I had lowered them a little, I don't know.....
