Trying to record bass guitar at the moment and really having to boost the input fader just to get it to the right level, which is causing a load of hiss. Can anyone recommend a good, cheap DI box?

Cheers

Matt

Behri Vtone BDI.
It's quite cheap, fairly robust and versatile. There are many better tube based bass DI/pres out there & you can get that sort of info from those in the know on this site but this is cheap & good.

There are lots that do the job, but what's "cheap" in your book?

I like the ART Tube MP as a DI for bass guitar.

Not much to write home about as a mic pre, but it will give you gain for that also, as a bonus.

If you're going into a computer, don't worry about turning it up so much at the recording stage. Hit it with a compressor and/or amp sim later, and you might get the punch you want during mixing.
