I've got (or will have) a file of a vocal quartet. I want to write a symphonic arrangement for it in Sibelius 6, and mix the sounds of this notation program with the quartet sounds. I do have DP5 and have done quite a bit of MIDI orchestration. No problem doing the orchestration, saving it as a SMF and importing it into Sibelius, BUT, how do I combine the sound output of Sibelius with the quartet? Thanks in advance...

Explain yourself better. This quartet file you are about to get - what is it exactly? Is it a Sample file of different people singing? If so, what format is the file in? Roland, Kurzweil, Emu?

Does not Sibelius v.5 and v.6 come with sample orchestration files? So, you should have some working knowledge (if not, read the manual) on how to choose different instruments from the Sample Orchestration for the Sibelius software to use for different stalves.

Lastly, see what format of samples Sibelius will work with, and buy accordingly when you buy from 3rd party companies.

It should be as simple as Right-clicking the staff you wish to select an instrument for, and then browsing your library of sounds, wherever they reside.
