Recording of my cover of Beatles Getting Better. Recorded on Fostex G16 1/2 inch and mixed to Masterlink. I suspect the posting to you tube brought the quality down further (first attempt to post). Pictures are self indulgent, but do show a few studio shots.

Hey man I'm listening now. For starters, try www.lightningmp3.com to upload your mp3. It's free, simple, and ran by a member of this forum.

You got some cool beatles style guitar tones. I'm hearing a lot more drum on the right side, throwing me off a little bit but I know it's not something the beatles were afraid to do.

You could really put the vocals louder. That was my first thought, and a song that's so vocally harmonically driven deserves upfront vocals. Plus you guys are pretty good singers!

I'm very familiar with this song and I think you guys did a good job with it. Good playing. Now are you trying to have your instruments sound tonally like the beatles?

One of my fave all-time tunes. The vox has a more "Beach Boys" quality because of the lower level and mo' verb. Some of the vocals are sung a tad flat, and with no pump...kinda lazy. Paul's vocal was very perky. he was perkey. No wonder John grew to loathe him. The octave guitar is dry and way up front....needs to be pushed down a bit. Have you compared to the original? Would you care to?

I think Ringo's drums were a lot more prominant...along with pauls whoomping bass part. A mix issue. The parts are played as I remember them...just at different levels. Also missing is the patented George Martin 'swish' and sustain on the crashes. They were always huge. I wonder what cymbal that was, exactly...and how he recorded it. Never heard the likes of it anywhere else.

Funny..I heard this and some other Beatles playing on the house XM system while I set up for a gig last Friday. I listened with new ears, and imagined all the fixes the mixes would 'need' if they wre posted here for assessment. The bass was too loud. The pans were whack..... :^)
