Hi,

I've previously recorded mixes without any issue but have since bought a Laptop to replace the adging PC.
I've purched a Behringer U-control UCA-202 and have downloaded the lateest ASIO/Driver.
I can record mixed to Ableton but the sound from the left stereo is almost double the volume of the right stereo.
Also when i play back the recording it cut's out sporadically. I'm talking millisecond cut outs but it'd definatly noticable and obviously not good enough t be able to burn to cd and use as a demo!

I've tried absloutly everything and like to think im pretty savy when it come's to IT but i just cannot fix this problem and it's doing my head in as i've put soo much time and efford into it.

Can anyone out there help me?!

$30 sound interface? You get what you pay for....

If the channels are not the same volume, double check the control panels to make sure the volumes are set the same, but it may just be a faulty cheap unit.

Cut outs can also be a sign that your hard drive (laptops have SLOW drives to save power) cannot keep up with the data flow. Consider recording to a 7200rpm USB or Firewire external drive.

Audio and video production means moving a LOT of data very rapidly.
Trying to do it on the cheap is often frustrating and loaded with problems...

I have that gizmo & it works fine for me but you might have a dud.
I only use it for non crucial stuff as it's specs are not brilliant - OK but not brilliant.
Does everything seems right when you monitor the mix?
I don't record to laptop as I can't afford oone with the speed & specs. they can be very llimiting.

Update: The Stereo records fine when using Audacity but there is still the issue of jumpy playback. This seems to be more prominent and more often when I'm running more programs through the laptop so maybe it's a laptop issue? Although that still doesn't explain why the stereo in ablton is louder on the left side and I can't understand why my laptop would be a problem as it's a new AMD Duel core.
