There are'nt any switches on the card, just jumpers. It was mentioned already.

Well, switch/jumper....whatever. It looked like a switch of some sort in the picture in the manual. There were two positions for mic level and two positions for line level. One of each was to provide attenuation to the signal.
I know it was mentioned, but in the previous context it was only described as a switch between mic and line level inputs.

And it appears he is using inputs 1 & 2 because he has no external pre-amp to use with it. In that case It appears to me that he needs to set the jumpers to provide the mic level with signal attenuation.

Dude...that picture in your signature...I'm just sayin'...pretty strange ! :D

I cracked the computer open, and sure enough, it was set to the default setting - see figure 1. So I changed the settings to 1a (mic level w/ attenuation). Fire the computer back up........still sounds really bad.

So I shut down, open up, and try the third setting just for kicks. Still sounds bad.

I have nowhere else to go, so I try the fourth setting even though. Sure enough, it sounded really bad.

Unfortunately, I became enraged between each troubleshooting attempt (not really), and I took a break between each trial. So I can't tell which one was worse.....they were all dreadfully bad.

Anyway, I have no recourse but to buy more crap to fix the problem (more equipment that I was going to buy eventually anyway). :(
