What kind of interface are you using? (maybe I missed it in one of the earlier posts).

Recording the output might cause a little latency. But you should be using ASIO drivers (make sure you have that selected in Options -> Preferences -> Devices). If your interface doesn't have ASIO drivers then you can download ASIO4AL: http://www.asio4all.com/

What I would do, personally, is just record it as MIDI. Once it's recorded, right click the MIDI track and click "Apply FX to items as new take". Then you will have an audio track. Also, you can always right-click and select "Take -> " and go back to the MIDI if you want to correct something, change instruments, etc.

aghh now i can get my fl studio synths to work via rewire, which strangely doesn't have any latency in reaper .. but does have latency with audition. :s
is there a way to use the fl studio synths in reaper without using rewire though?

I am still arround following the thread.
What latency do you use in A Audition for recording?
Have you tried to do the same in Cubase?

i'm using an m audio mobile pre usb soundcard. i use a bunch of different free synths and synths that came with fl studio . it's a midi controller only. how would i record the sounds i hear?

Not familiar with that but I would guess it has ASIO drivers. Make sure Reaper is set to use these drivers in the Options -> Preferences -> Devices.

yes i've been using asio.. i'm not getting the normal latency where the sounds come after i push the keyboard.


instead the latency i'm getting is opposite.. i'll put the metronome on , then i'll record a track with my keyboard.. then upon playback the sounds are coming slightly before the metronome. and every time i add a new track the new track comes slightly before the one before it. and before you ask it's not a problem with my keyboard playing. when i record live this problem doesn't occur.

if i could fix this, and possibly be able to play my fl synths without rewire i'd be set.

also what do reaper users use for programming drums?

i actually like reaper quite a lot.. although it doesn't have as many options and features as fl studio in terms of making loops , and it doesn't have as many options and features as audition in terms of editing audio... but for the begining stages of actually coming up with a song/composing it works best because you only have to use one program. but i'll probably still use the other 2 as well.

There is a function (I guess in all multitrack software) which calculates your input latency and actually synchronizes recorded tracks.
Try to find it. Your case is telling me like it was overdone. I know this sounds stupid but your software is telling me
that you've been playing ahead for metronome which is not true.

I never used Reaper but try to find "Sample accurate sync" or something like that.
